Getting started

How to Join DonutSMP (IP, Version and Bedrock)

Joining DonutSMP takes about a minute once you know the address and the version. Here's the full setup, including Bedrock, and what to do in your first hour so you don't lose everything.

Add the server

If the connection fails, check that you're not on an outdated snapshot, that your client isn't on Bedrock, and that no VPN is blocking the connection.

  1. Open Minecraft Java Edition on a recent release (DonutSMP runs on 1.21+; a current version is safest).
  2. Go to Multiplayer, then Add Server.
  3. Enter donutsmp.net as the server address and save it.
  4. Double-click the entry to connect. At peak hours you may land in a queue, that is normal, leave the client running.

Bedrock Edition

DonutSMP is a Java server that accepts Bedrock players through a cross-play proxy, so console and mobile players can get in, but the experience is not identical: some inventory interactions, crystal PvP timings and client mods simply don't exist on Bedrock.

Schematics are Java-only. Litematica and WorldEdit files can't be loaded on Bedrock, so if you want to build anything from this library you'll need the Java client.

Your first hour on DonutSMP

  1. Do not build anything valuable near spawn. Travel thousands of blocks out first.
  2. Grind starter money before you gear up: spawners and mob farms are the standard route.
  3. Build a hidden stash before you build anything pretty. Everything you own that isn't hidden will eventually be found.
  4. Keep a regear kit in a second location so a single raid doesn't reset you.

Recommended client setup

  • Fabric + Litematica + MaLiLib: required to build any schematic from this site.
  • A performance mod set (Sodium, Lithium): the queue and busy chunks are heavy.
  • A minimap with waypoints: losing your stash coordinates is the most common beginner mistake.
